Colorado shooter identified as James Holmes, 24
Law enforcement authorities identified the gunman in a mass shooting in Colorado early Friday as James Holmes, 24, and said he was taken into custody near his car behind the theater where the shooting unfolded. The shooter, who interrupted a premier of
P14-45 Handgun. Alleged gunman James Holmes opened fire and set off an unknown gas in a crowded movie theater in suburban Denver during the midnight opening of “The Dark Knight Rises”. Twelve people were killed and at least fifty more were injured.
Several media outlets, including ABC News, have named the suspected gunman in the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting as 24-year-old James Holmes of North Aurora.
When word spread like wildfire throughout the world about Colorado's horrific mass movie theater shooting, two questions emerged once a suspect was taken into apprehension authorities: Who is James Holmes? Why did he apparently do this?
